TPTI Awarded Texas Workforce Commission’s Self Sufficiency Fund Grant

Arlington, Texas January 22, 2020 Texas Premier Technology Institute (TPTI) has received a Self Sufficiency Fund Grant, awarded to worthy recipients by The Texas Workforce Commission’s Outreach and Development Board. The grant pays for curriculum development, instructor fees and certifications, training materials, certain work-related expenses for trainees and some training equipment. Applicants may receive up to $500,000 per proposal.
The Self Sufficiency Fund provides training grants to community and technical colleges and community-based organizations 501(c )(3) which deliver occupational training that must lead to an acceptable industry recognized certification for adult recipients of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) or individuals who are At-Risk of becoming dependent on public assistance.
“The most significant thing about winning this award is our ability to provide even greater access to technology training and support services to individuals who have come to us with conditions that limit their ability to fully embrace employment opportunities,” said Therelee D. Washington II, Founder-CEO, Texas Premier Technology Institute.
“This award will help us significantly enhance students’ options and economic leverage, giving them more tangible access to specialized, higher paying job opportunities,” he added.
TPTI has always been active throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth area since its inception, offering activities such as their free Youth Technology Aspire Program, a 3-day workshop comprised of introductions into technology careers and fundamentals for 13-18 year old students.
By first discovering a student’s interest then guiding them in creating their own roadmap, TPTI ensures students’ engagement in the learning and discovery process. Evidence of TPTI’s success is also seen in another recent accolade naming TPTI Best Technology Career Training Centre – Texas by US Business News 2019 Technology Elite Award.
